For two days in late July, Carriage House Violins was happy to participate in a new and greatly expanded version of the traditional Suzuki Institute. Cleveland Suzuki Institute and International Music Festival’s schedule is augmented with enrichment activities alongside conventional play-ins and faculty recitals. Parents and students are encouraged to perform in truncated versions of popular musicals, talent shows, and bid in silent auctions to benefit the Institute. The extra activities broaden the Suzuki philosophy of talent education beyond mere musical proficiency, provide alternative methods of “edu-tainment,” and create a more encompassing and accessible community experience.
Several people took advantage of Carriage House Violins’ selection of string instruments and bows during our visit, many expressed gratitude for me traveling such great distances to be there, and all enjoyed a complimentary Carriage House Violins “Violins of Good Taste” musical tote bag. Coincidentally, the Boston Red Sox were in town also to take two out of three against the Tribe. By all accounts the trip was a success!
Thanks to Scott, Marlene, and Ray for going out of their way to accommodate Carriage House Violins and the Big Green Van, I hope to see you all next year.

Ethan, I just found this blog today. I appreciate your kind and generous comments, and want to reiterate how pleased we were that you stopped by last summer. We hope to see you again at IMF/CSI 2008. Regardless, I hope our paths cross again in the future.
Sincerely,
Scott Keen
